This post is about my favorite things this time of year!

Mornings at our house begin with a piece of chocolate!
Here is Emma and Elly's tree. I put it up and did nothing more. All of the ornaments are under 4.5 feet and I love it!

We still haven't built a FrOsTy at our house because we have grass but in ten days we will be in a winter wonderland making angels and snowmen.

These carolers are from Eric's grandma, quite a few of the grandkids have matching sets.

I just like this tree.

Yet another reason to love COSTCO, they have great BIG poinsettias.

LOVE this guy.

You can't really see the garland but it is quite cute.

One of Emma's first daycare ladies made these years ago for each family, perfect on the candle holders I must say.

Maybe I should post Halloween!

The staff at MVHS dressed in Alice attire.

I couldn't be as ellaborate as some because I had to leave early so that I could see my little chicken and all her buddies sing to the Grandmas and Papas (as she called them).
I need to get a staff photo because we really all looked great.

The kids had been working so hard on their songs. Mrs. Ana didn't really think that Elly would sing much, nor did she know the songs...she was wrong, Elly did great as did they all.

They did sign-language to a few songs.

My mom, sis, daughter, and I were supposed to spend Saturday night in SLC attending Witches Night Out at the Gardener's Mill, that didn't happen! At the last minute, our sitter canceled and we weren't about to take 5 children with us. So, My mom, sis, and crew came to visit us.

We had a great time shopping, playing at the house, having our own episode of Dancin with the Stars, beading, eating, and the most FuN of all was had at Hop 2 it!

Here we have two teenagers, or so they think.
At the baseball game, there is a cone that sends out air for the ball to float on, the kids found an alternative use for it.

Here is Zach in the joust arena. He was flipping over the handle resting on the two stands. He was quite surprised when his almost 30 yr old Aunt Beet showed him up with a few flips of her own. That's right I've still got it!

We start with Erich and Mindie's wedding, what a great day this was. I was a bridesmaid and Emma was a flower girl. I however don't have any pictures of Emma because she was too busy playing. I need to talk with Mindie about getting shots from the photographer. The ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was a blast!

I had a great idea that Katie, Sheri, and I should go...I should have known that Ryan and Eric would take us for one heck of a ride! It was FUN though. I'm glad Nate was with us or I imagine it would've been worse.

You three are the best friends ever! I'm so glad that Mindie had to be my friend because we were cousins and neighbors and therefore you two others had to like me! I'm so happy for all of us. We are so different but friends through and through. Thanks for loving my girls as much as you all do...would you three please get busy in that department.

Last Friday on our way to town Emma was gazing out the window and said "mom, what is in those fields?" I replied "nothing, the farmers are getting them ready so that they can plant" she said "well, if all the farmers would plant flowers then we would live in a beautiful world!"

That day when I picked her up from daycare her teacher told me that she said this: "Mrs. Ana, I'm never having kids" Mrs. Ana said "what do you mean?" Emma said "I'm just never having kids, and don't worry about it, I've allready talked to God about it" Mrs. Ana said "why not" and she responded with "cuz I don't like babies, that's it, I just don't like them!"

Can you imagine living in a world full of flowers with no babies???

After they took the IV out, she really wanted the bandages off, you can see her other little hand trying to rip them off. She bled a lot and has a big bruise. They tried both feet first and had no luck so she also has bruises there.

later that night, yawning with her nasty breath. We make her wear a bib now because she drools so much.

Before bedtime she was snugglin with her big sis.

We are glad it's over!

We are still alive! I realize it's been a long time since I've blogged but here I am.

Here are ten things that we've been up to, in no apparant order...

1) We've been sick

This is Elly at the Dr. yesterday. Her ear drum ruptured on Saturday and now she has an inner and outer ear infection in one ear and an outer in the other. ~poor girly~

This is what your kids look like after you've spent the day sick in bed.

Eric has a sinus infection. I have strep and was put on two medications and then finally hydrocodone and lidacaine, I was so sick! Emma had strep, an ear infection, and croup, she was put on an antibiotic and breathing treatments. Elly had an ear infection, and then later we found out she really had an ear infection. We have had many sick days at our house and we better be on the mend!

2) Emma has now lost 4 teeth. Two in the same day!

3) My little Picasso has been hard at work, here is her BFF Maitea.

Here is her new favorite movie, I love the cat.

She did this on President's Day. That's her when she's president.

4) Went to Ashton and looked at these beauties. So pretty!

5) Bathed these five turkeys, so cute!

6)Had SNOW much fun at Grandma and Papa's house. My kids love the snow and since we don't get any, they spend lots of time outdoors when we are in Ashton.

Queen of the hill. We had fun on the fourwheeler as well and "mom of the year" didn't get any photos.

7) Went skiing! I had a great time and was super proud of myself. It had been ten+ years. I only fell once and I laughed it off. (Mindie, I know you'll be proud of me for this one)

GO ZACHY LOWE. Emma was mad that she didn't get to go but I really don't think she's ready. I'm gonna go to a ski swap and we'll try next year.

8) My great Aunt Elenore passed away. She was a great woman and will be missed by many, she was like another Grandma to me. Elenore once pulled a tooth of my mom's so at her funeral it was only fit for Bradie to pull one of Emma's teeth.

9) LOVE the olympics! Go team USA

10) Started making some improvements in my master bedroom, pictures to come.

That's a little bit of what we've been up to.

Funny name for the title? Once Emma's gingerbread house was complete, she wanted me to take pictures, of course! Later that night we were running to the store and Emma informed me that our house looked like a gingerbread hosue. Since Our house is brown stucco, it really does resemble a gingerbread house. I wouldn't suggest eating though.

In 364 ShOrT days, my twenties will be a thing of the past. My friend and co-worker, Dionne, has been bugging me for weeks to find out my birthday, I finally told her so she then began to bug me about my age. I don't really care about my age, I'm happy and healthy and that's what matters right? Regardless, I answered with 42, she said "okay" and never asked again. Yesterday at lunch there was a big chocolate cake on the staff table that read "Happy 42nd Birthday Mrs. Steele" Now for the kicker, one of her male student had seen the cake earlier in the day and said to her "damn she looks good for 42" LOVE THAT! He came into my room later and told me Happy Birthday and asked if I was really 42, I said no, how old do ya think I am? He guessed 25.

We had a great dinner at Cafe Rio last night with some friends and then we all went to the South Hills to see the lights. It was cold, below zero, but worth it to see the excitment in my daughters' eyes, the smiles on their faces, and the "pitty" that kept coming from Elly's little mouth. The hot cocoa that we had afterwards was better than any cake ever could've been!

Viva Las Vegas and Christmas decor

My grandparents took most of the Maraotz clan to Vegas to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary and Thanksgiving. I am very thankful for having such a great family! We had a good trip, a bit hectic at times but overall good!

The plane ride there was fine but the trip home was rough, they were both so tired and therfore a little naughty. Eric and I were glad to land in Idaho Falls, all though sad we couldn't stay.

Bowling babes! We bowled a total of four games while on vacation. Eric beat me once and I beat him once, it was only by one point but that's all it takes.

By the end of the trip, Emma was using the finger holes instead of just rolling the ball.

She had to wear dresses all but one day while on vaca. And not just plain dresses, they had to be sparkly to match her "groovy red slippers"

FUN on Fremont Street. This is where Emma saw the dancing girls and was very curious about them dancing on tables and wondering if they were wearing swimsuits. YES they were!

Emma and Grandma before the Lion King at the Mandalay Bay. The highlight of the trip for her was the show, she now roars and calls herself Nala. Yesterday at Preschool she drew a lion, an elephant and a giraffe and I have to say she is quite the artist.

The traditional Christmas wreath...that really needs a bow. It's a good thing my mom doesn't look at my blog :-) I love COSTCO for many reasons but this time of year, it's cuz of their great-smelling good'ol traditional Christmas wreaths.

The best for last..............my NEW 9ft tree! I LOVE it so much. Finally a tree in my house that looks good. When ya have 17 ft ceilings a regular tree just doesn't do the trick. I really need to get out the ladder and put some decorations at the top of the tree!

What's happening at our house?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, minus the snow. The girls and I have started decorating (Eric didn't escape it entirely, he had to get it all out) and I LOVE it. I'm so in the mood, such a happy, peaceful, state. I know it may be early to some of you but not me. I was a December baby, and I love winter and everything that goes along with it! I just really wish it would snow. My birthday wish is the same every year...SNOW!!!

She was so excited whis mornig with the outcome. So was I!
Here we have Patti and Paul, they are friends of friends. We went to their house and were in for a spooky treat! Their house was all lit up and decorated in every bit of Halloween fun.

Emma had a costume change Halloween morning, she just couldn't be Sleeping Beauty one more time. Apparently two Halloween parties was enough. I told her to figure something out and she did...Tinkerbell. I bought her new wings and pom-poms for her shoes just hours before the witching began.

Emma had her first school Halloween Party today and i was able to sneak away to attend!

She didn't know I was coming so she was excited to see me.

We've been sick at our house too...

Thankfully, Emma is very cooperative with her breathing treatments.

She had a terrible cough and slight fever.
Last Thursday Elly was diagnosed with Strep. I knew something was wrong because she was so irratable and had a slight temperature. I thought it was just getting that last tooth in but daycare said otherwise. I took her in to the Dr and was glad I did. As you can see in the picture, she is salivating so much, I never knew that was a sign of strep.
You can't tell but she is sitting in a box, I've said it before and I'll say it again...who needs toys when ya have a box???

They had fun! It was just a few miles from our house so we will make it a yearly to do.

Last weekend the girls and I went to Ashton. My mom was having her annual fall open-house and we always go to help out. On Saturday a bunch of cousins came to play and it was fun to see the kids be kids. I wish I would've captured more pictures, but I didn't.

Notice how my dad can't get both knees down like the others, he had a knee replacement yesterday. POOR guy was in pain before due to bone on bone and now is in worse pain after the suegery. It'll get better for him and the outcome will far out- weigh the pain. I hate that my parents are needing fake body parts!

MAN, Halloween OREOs are good!
Yesterday my school went on a field trip to the ice caves, I was glad to go since I've lived here for ten years now and never been. How many times have I driven past them and never stopped? Countless. It was a fun and educational day! The ice caves are North of Shoshone. The caves are a lava tube that is a natural wonder where ice forms year-round.

The pictures aren't the best, but you can see that there is ice covering the floor of the cave. During the summer, there is about 4 inches of water that cover the ice. This is due to water dripping in through the cave roof, or ground about the cave. It is the mountain run-off from the previous winter's snowfall. In the winter, the water freezes solid, there have been many ice-skating parties in the caves. The caves were destroyed by the government and in the 60's a man rebuilt the rockwalls so that the natural wonder would resume. Back in the days, near by towns would come to the caves to get ice for their saloons.

There was a narrow, wobbly boardwalk that we ventured through the caves on.
The caves stay at a cool 30 degrees year round.

The man on top is a replica of the peoples who lived in the area long, long ago.

This was taken looking down into the cave entrance. We had already traveled down many steep stairs to get to this point. We headed down more stairs to the narow cave entrance.

If you live near by and haven't been, I recomment it.

My cousin Hilary married Reed Aller on September 12.

The girls were very adimant that Reed couldn't be called Daddy until the wedding was over.

Here they are with their soon to be new Daddy, waiting for their beautiful Mommy.

During this trip home, Mom, Dad, Bradie, Chris, and I went to the Huey Lewis concert. Boy did that bring back memories of West Yellowstone. It was fun to be their, especially with my dad!

Huey sounded great, allthough he is getting a little old in the face. We went down into the arena and were right in front of the stage...why I don't have pictures??? I left the camera in the car and it was a long walk to go get it.

The first day of school, my little girl isn't really ready for Kindergarten is she? Emma was so ready for the big day, she had her clothes chosen and her hair-do planned. Mom and Dad on the other hand had a hard time letting her go. We went to the playground and into her classroom with her. She kept giving us the "would ya leave already" look.

She quickly found Jillian and Riva on the playground, these are friends from Kreative Kids Preschool, they are all three in the same class. YEAH!

Shocking that she chose a Princess bag, it is filled with Hannah Montana stuff.

We had to get in one more camping trip before school started. We headed to the South Hills.

We went on a four-wheeler ride and saw a dead cow, Emma was riding with Ed and this is what she said "Uncle Ed, he doesn't look like he's feeling so good" Ed was cracking up, and so were the rest of us once we stopped and he told us. She is very entertaining and we are glad that Ed loves kids. We are lucky to have such good friends/family.

Holy Cow, Brittney is posting!

We've been so busy and I'm having a hard time getting the whole post finished

We had a trip to Ashton for my 10 year class reunion, but I didn't get pictures...thanks Olivia for taking care of that part. The slideshow was great!

We had a busy day, we went to Hop 2 it for Alyssa's party and then to the Bowling Alley for Steen's party and then back to Alyssa's house for more partying. My girls were tired chicks by the end the day. Sunday we went to our neighbor girl's graduation party. Now, on Monday, Emma is home sick with Daddy...Hi fever, I do hope she is okay. I guess she had too much fun!

My boss and friend, Kelleen, lives in the prettiest place in the Magic Valley. She lives at Niagara Springs which is in the canyon in Wendell, it is also the WMA and Steelhead Hatchery.

The waterfalls, ponds, river, walking trails, endless pavement for biking and huge yard are a great place to spend a day. Last Sunday we spent the afternoon and evening playing there with the Williams family. They have an incredible lifetime opportunity to go teach in Africa and will leave in July. Emma and Maitea will have to learn to e-mail. The two of them have quite the friendship and it will be really hard to say goodbye. We plan to have many fun days with them before they go. Here are some photos of our adventure.

On Cinco De Mayo, Emma was a mexican princess. She learned all about the day telling us "today a long time ago, France and Mexico had a battle and Mexico won. Now I am a Mexican Princess" Her school celebrated the day by making maracas, breaking a pinata, and engaging in spanish traditions. Mrs. Ana, you are great!

I am so blessed to have Elly, she is such a good and happy little camper. She is not walking, nor crawling...just her CrAzY little scoot. She says many words and sometimes a couple at a time. She is a good eater (wouldn't have guessed that would you have), and a good sleeper. She is definately a blankey girl...for those of you who don't know, I still sleep with my baby blanket - I wonder where she could get that habit from? She loves patt-a-cake and peek-a-boo! She is such a joy to have in our lives. Wowsers, I can't believe a year ago today, I took a 5lb 8oz Pinkie Pie...the year has certainly flown by. (and now I'm shedding a tear)

It's been a long time since I've done a post...life is busy.

It really was a nice day but when in Ashton, you MUST wear snowboots.

Every time I go to my parent's house, I come home not loving mine! So this time I had mom help me shop, mostly from her house...I was in the market for decor for the top of the new entertainment center, a table to go on the side of it, and stuff for my kitchen.

I'm pleased with the results!

I also did some work in my kitchen (but forgot to take pics). I had mostly apple decor and I was way sick of it. About a year ago, Eric did tile countertops, that I LOVE and I just needed new things to go with them. I got new canisters, items to go on the top of the capinets, and plates for my plate hanger thingy. I hope mom approves, she'll be here in April so I guess I'll know then. That is, if Bradie will let her go for a weekend!

Emma was so naughty last Friday, we told her that we were gonna ship her away. We were nice enough to let her choose her destination, of course it was Grandma and Papa's house!

Eric told her that when he was finished eating he would un-pack a box for her to be sent in. Little did we know but she was in the entry un-packing on her own!!! She brought the box into the dining room and said "ok, I'm getting packed." The items she chose to take were: milk, strawberry quick, Spot, Clara, and Sara puppy.

She called my parents to let them know that she would be arriving the next day!

Elly as you can see was thrilled that Emma was leaving! More mom and dad time for her :)

Sunday was a big day at our house, Elly also said Emma. Big Sis was thrilled!

She is at a fun age, aside from teething, which she now has 6 of! She loves hide-and-seek and often pulls a blanket over her head to let us know that she wants to play. She talk, talk, talks. She waves hi and bye. She is eating more and more table foods. She loves her sister, bathtime, and dancing! I'm so blessed to have such a happy camper!

We had a good but quick trip. Emma went to her first dentist appointment and had a good report, mom of the year would have pics here. Did we really even need to watch the show last night to see that Naomi was leaving? She's a pretty girl and I repect her morals but she just wasn't Mesnick material. It's a tumor and we are waiting on lab results to see if it's cancer. His incision is huge and he wants so badly to lick on it but he's too big and can't bend like that! We really hope that we get one more summer of camping with him, he loves being away with us. Eric and the hunting boys hate to lose their guard dog. We've also found out that his thyroid is bad and he is now on meds. I am thankful that he is acting like the same ol Nic.

The kids all had nicely colored teeth and lips after eating Wall e.

Ash's Grandma made a Wall e cake and it was super cool, we hated to eat it but it was yummy!

She totally wanted to play but there were so many rough kids there!

I think the ballpit was Em's favorite place! There were many jumping cages and blow-up slides as well but I guess I was busy in the parent group when she was on those toys.

These are some pics from Ashton's birthday party. Twin Falls badly needed a fun place for kids to go, and now we have one. (I'm such the jerm freak so these places are hard for me but I know that the kids love them so I do my best to sanitize and let 'em PLAY.) Ashton's mom, Erin and I have been friends for 5 years now, we worked together at Old Navy. We both had baby girls this past summer. Erin watched Emma off and on for me when I use to sub. Ashton's dad is a stucco man and he has fixed some holes in our house, from the lovely woodpecker! They are a great family and we hope to stay friends for a long time! At the party we gave Ashton 15 one dollar bills and he soooooo didn't want to open the card because he thought it was just another boring card...maybe he learned that cards are good too:)

FiRsT thing first, there couldn't have been a better Bachelor last night! Go Jason, getting rid of the three was gustsy but good of him! Shannon was so needy, Nikki was so into herself, and Megan was a CrAzY liar. The problem is that now I like all of them, I'm still rooting for Jillian and Melissa the most but I really do like Stephanie and Naomi also. Molly, I need to see more of. I can't wait for next week in Seattle!

I' ve LOST my camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, sorry for no new pictures. It's really bugging me because I always know where that is, keys are another story! Eric got me a new one for Christmas, guess I better get it out of the box. I can't beleive Grey's last night, what a show! I sooooo want a Deric, I'm only off one letter :) I'm such a TV watcher this time of year, Bachelor on Mondays and Greys and then PP on Thursdays. The second semester is under way, I'm close to getting all my kids where they need to be.
Emma is going to a party tomorrow at Hop to it and then to Ashton's for cake and icecream. We are also going to JIVE in the evening. She is very excited and it's been a good week cuz I've held the events over her head. She is excelling at school, she loves coming to my classroom and being Mrs. Anna (her teacher). Right now I have Steele written on both boards and she told me that they better be there next time she comes. She is learning so much so fast. I can't beleive that Kindergarted in only 7 months away!
Elly is doing great in the next room at daycare, she is always soooooo happy. I'm so thankful that she sleeps through the night! She is without binkie now, BIG girl. Her teeth are really funny, they are like chicklets. (I know a pic would be great here) She loves to eat puffs and I love that she feeds herself.
Eric is just Eric, Busy as a cop and a floor guy. He did buy a new car last night and I may kill him, I'll put him in it and then push it off the canyon rim. Maybe I should re-think this cuz the car is worth quite a bit!

It's been a while since I've done a post but I've been super busy! On Sunday we got a new entertainment center, I love it. I've always hated my TV just sitting there. I've been busy at school, semester ends on Friday so the kids are trying to pull up their grades. We've looked at more property and done more work on the house plans. Emma is back to dance lessons, allthough I'm thinking about pulling her...we'll see how today goes. Elly is transitioning to the next age group at daycare, she's growing up so fast! I've been planning Marley and Fisher's shower. I'm missing all the snow in Asthon and looking forward to going there in 28 days. We went to visit our cow for the last time...she's gonna taste good, how redneck is that? I've planned a girl's night for Friday and am very excited to go see Bride Wars. That pretty much sums it up!

It was great to spend most of Christmas Break in Ashton, I loved being there but more important was being with family!

Emma loved her Christmas Eve gift and it was great to see her with all of her cousins.

Christmas Eve has always been my most-favorite part of Christmas. I can't remember a Christmas growing up that wasn't spent with the Marotz family. We do dinner, candlelight service, and a present. It really sets the mood and makes you remember the reason for the season.

3)Watching Drake, Em, and Zach rumble. Drake won, no surprise, he's bigger than Zach and Em.

The Steele family has been busy, aren't we all? We've been shopping, getting all those presents - we finally found the Ben 10 car, Merry Christmas Zach!!! We made gingerbread houses and Em ate the trees. We went to the S hills to Santa's house, Emma took a bag of carrots but the camel was sick and wouldn't eat any of them:( Mom is trying to get the house all clean so that when we return from the holiday break we will have a place to put all the new presents. Emma was so excited when we woke up to snow on the 13th. We are so excited to go to Asthon in only 4 days!

Last night I rushed home, got Elly set up with the nighbor girl and beautified Emma, not that she needs it! A beautiful dress and curled hair and we were off to the ballet. It was fantastic as always! After a male solo near the beginning Em stated "mom, I've been workin on that for weeks and I just can't get it!" I laughed so hard and luckily so did the lady next to us. It's become an annual event to attend the Nutcracker but this was our first year without Mindie. Em called Grandma and told her that next year she has to come.

Yesterday was the actual b-day but I couldn't post until today. I remember when I thought 28 was O L D but now that I'm it, it's the new 23! My only birthday wish was for SNOW and it didn't happen! I've seen pics of a wintery white Ashton and we will be there in 9 days so LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!

Elly had her 6 mo WBC at 7 1/2 months, yes, I'm that off, it's fine! Her height percentage finally passed her weight percentage:) 28in 80th % and 18lbs 70th %. She is growing up so fast!

I bought theses dresses and really liked them so I had the girls try them on...then I went to the next store. I found better dresses so I returned these but I thougt the picture was cute so I had to show you all!

On Sunday, the girls and I put up our tree, Emma insisted we get it up

so that Santa will know where to put her presents! It was great to see

Elly gaze at the lights and listen to Emma sing Christmas carols!

As I was looking through old pictures, I found this one and Emma wanted me to post it so that her Aunt Mindie will know that she misses her. She says to tell Mindie "good night moon" something that they always did together. Mindie was a very important part in Emma's life and is talked about almost daily at our house.

This is a member of LA Guns, we had backstage passes and got to hang with the groups: LA Guns, Firehouse, and Warrant. It was a wild but good show. I tried to tell my Grandpa Marotz that Eric and I were having problems and that this was the new guy that I was seeing, he was concerned!!!
